All proposed Social Security regulations that were pending approval at the Office of Management and Budget have been withdrawn, per a White House directive. This includes proposed regulations regarding the timing and frequency of continuing disability reviews and proposed regulations to modify age categories in determining disability. We are still waiting to learn if this will also halt the changes to musculoskeletal listings that are scheduled to go into effect in April 2021.
In addition, there is now a question regarding the future of Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul. Recently his title was listed as “acting” Commissioner on a list of temporary government leaders distributed by the White House last week. This comes on the heels of several high ranking deputies on his team that had been replaced by more labor friendly and Democrat leaning personnel.
